Comment

Alphabet Zoo consists of:
An activity book with reproducible blackline masters for each letter of the alphabet. Each page has a b/w illustration (suitable for colouring) depicting an animal doing something silly; a rhyming couplet describing the picture; and a space for children to practice the letter, to copy the verse or to write an original. Also included is a checklist page which children can use to record the pages they have completed, and a set of worksheets which help to integrate the animal theme into other curriculum areas.

An original CD produced exclusively for Pacific Edge Publishing by Robert Swerdlow, one of Canada’s most innovative children’s composers. A wonderful collection of eight lively songs sung by master storyteller Holly Burke, backed by a children’s chorus, extending the alphabet into music and movement. Three songs reinforce the letters of the alphabet, their sounds and their shapes, while another five integrate the animal theme into math, science, social studies and PE.

A black and white Hidden Animal Poster for small groups of students to work together to find and colour the animals.
